According to http://smppserver.org/ this is a peer-to-peer SMS message
exchange protocol.

"The protocol is based on pairs of request/response PDUs (protocol data
units, or packets) exchanged over OSI layer 4 (TCP session or X.25 SVC3)
connections. PDUs are binary encoded for efficiency."

TCP. As long as it's not using some ephemeral port-hopping system - and
it doesn't look like it is, being a server which listens on a single
port - you're good to go.
