Does SMP significantly increase LVS performance ?

Hi,

I want to install a  linux  LVS  in front of a WEB servers pool , and i
am trying to establish "the best" hardware configuration.

But i don't have access yet to an SMP Linux box, and i have'nt enought
knowledge about Linux kernel and IP stack to figure out myself if i can
increase  performance in this area by using a 2 Procs hardware (probably
yes... but what could be the ratio ).

Doe's somebody have any idea or data ?
