I don't have any experience with your suggested solutions.
What you're trying to do is to restrict bandwidth because of
some financial constraints at your organisation. Let's say your
scheme works, how much will your organisation spend paying
you to implement it (even if $aren't involved, how many hours)?
Compare that to implementing a canned solution (say 1 day to
implement a regular LVS). Could you use the difference in salary/time,
to implement a solution to the financial constraints of your
organisation
