I checked out the ARP on web2 while telneted into it. It WAS showing an ARP
table. Here it is:

Interface: 192.168.101.3 on Interface 0x1000004
        Internet Address Physical Address Type
        192.168.101.1 00-e0-81-03-e1-62 dynamic
        192.168.101.10 00-10-4b-2b-14-ff dynamic
        192.168.101.20 00-10-5a-e3-a0-f2 dynamic

The 192.168.101.1 is my director. 192.168.101.10 is my work computer(I guess
client in this instance) and 192.168.101.20 is my "Domain Controller"

If I arp from my work computer, I only have the 192.168.101.20 address
listed.

Arping from my Director shows both realservers and the "Domain Controller"
on my eth1 interface.

From reading the How-to, it says that you don't have to worry about the ARP
with Windows. Is the HOW-TO in error then? I set up the loopback with the
VIP and with a netmask of 255.0.0.0 and no gateway. Do I need to no-arp the
192.168.101.2(3) interfaces?

Thanks,

Bill

Thanks - I may not need them just yet.

Just went for my daily walk and it gave me enough time to think about
what might be happening. You appear to have arp problems. When you
do what you think is a connect, look at the arp table in your client
for the VIP. It should be the NIC on the outside of the director,
for the LVS to work.

You've got windows realservers. Have you done something to handle
the arp problem for windows machines? You can look at the HOWTO for
suggestions. Any of these will work

1. make the windows machines no-arp. This seems to be the choice
of the people on the mailing list.

2. you can put a host route to the VIP from the router that is connected to
the
internet (your client is on the other side of that router right?)

3. stop all the other machines on the network(s) eg your "domain controller"
router
from routing packets _to_ the VIP.

Joe
