PFARS Goes Alpha!!

PFARS For Automatic Replication System is mainly used to sync servers
in LVS clusters but also has many other uses. It is based on rsync over
ssh and has native support for the Debian package system.

Version 0.9.2.2 of PFARS is officially out for you to try out. This is
the first release that is actually worth your time to try out if you are
looking for this sort of application. 0.9.2.2 is in production use in two
high volume LVS clusters. The larger cluster of the two consists of eight
servers and over 60GB of data updated periodically throughout the day.

The new features implemented since version 0.8 are:

* compatible with Debian 2.2 (Potato) and Perl 5.005.
* much of code has been refactored into PFARS perl module.
* new pfars-slave-install script to automatically configure pfars
  slaves.
* new pfars-server engine that gives better server side control
  of what is happening.
* only one client side ssh key is needed instead of three.
* default config files are included!
* pipes to external commands are no done safely.

You can visit the SouceForge project page at:

Enjoy and I am very anxious to hear any feedback.
