    Currently my company uses MySQL as our primary database, it's very clear
to use now that going down the MySQL although a quick fix from our previous
database solution, it was not the best long term solution. We are at the
stage of beginning to asses other more powerful open source solutions. The
two most prevalent options appear to be PostGreSQL;
http://www.postgresql.org/ and the recently open sourced SAP;
http://www.sapdb.org/
    I am quite familiar with PostGreSQL's features and abilities, but SAP is
something which we are not so familiar with. They seem to have done an
excellent job writing documents from developers, but have little information
geared towards the actual decisions makes, the IT department (-;

I'm curious if anyone has had any hands on experience with SAP, and
specifically how scalable, redundant and usable the database is. Any
information you have to share would be appreciated.

Do people actually use SAP? There seems to be little of an online community
surround SAP, but that doesn't exactly surprise me as I've heard a basic
version used to retail for over $60,000 USD. People in that market range
tend to be very introvert.

Thank you,
Michael McConnell
