This documentation looks rather outdated. It refers to RSH and considers 
SSH to be optional.
For something more future-proof you probably want to go with the new 
unified cluster infrastructure Pacemaker:
http://www.clusterlabs.org/wiki/Main_Page

Although Pacemaker supports both heartbeat and Corosync/OpenAIS you should 
know that heartbeat is not really developed anymore so you might want to go 
with Corosyn/OpenAIS as basis for you Pacemaker cluster.
