first: for questions concerning heartbeat it might be better to ask on the
heartbeat mailing list at linux-ha@xxxxxxx

second: this is a FAQ! Browse the archives at

But in short:
heartbeat does _not_ monitor its resources where the ip address/ethernet card
is one of! You have to use other programs like mon to do this kind of
monitoring and take appropriate actions in case of a failure...
