Actually, I am pretty sure I know how they work. Maybe I need to start
doing some writing (where does all my time go?). I was thinking that
for the benefit of others, it might be nice to be able to point them
to a concise description of what a VIP is and why it is used. A lot
of the issues resulting from use of a VIP have been addressed (ie the
ARP problems in Linux - it would be nice if a VIP assigned to a loopback
address did not respond to ARPs coming from a "real" network interface -
and the persistence issues). However, for the sake of true neophytes,
some description of what a VIP is would be nice - that way I could reply
with a link rather than my own long winded description.
