under the test conditions I used, ie standard tcp packets, 100Mbps 
ethernet is limited to 8000 packets/sec, for any sized payload
(1byte to whatever I used for the mtu). 

I do get higher packet rates when using testlvs (about 2x I believe).
I don't know what the difference is.
