The default send/expect for LVS/Piranha is

SEND: GET / HTTP/1.0\r\n\r\n
EXPECT: HTTP

which is really only applicable for port 80 (http).

Does anyone have a working example of this for
port 25 (smtp), port 443 (https), and other ports?

This is important, in that it's the mechanism the LVS
server uses to test if the real servers are still up,
and if it should continue sending requests to one or
more of them.

I thought about NOOP and 250 for port 25 but not sure
if that is correct.

Thanks
Peter
