I'm no expert but I think that means it couldn't connect to the real
servers ?
I got the same problem on my test system even when I tried checktype=off
(is that supposed to work ?)
here is my working conf .. may help.. may not....

Have you looked in the ldirectord log ?
Yep, doesn't seem to give me much information though:
[Thu Dec 30 00:54:24 2021|ldirectord] Reading file /etc/ha.d/ldirectord.cf
[Thu Dec 30 00:54:24 2021|ldirectord] Starting Linux Director v1.51 as daemon
[Thu Dec 30 00:54:24 2021|ldirectord] Added virtual server: 192.168.2.70:80
[Thu Dec 30 00:54:24 2021|ldirectord] Added fallback server: 127.0.0.1:80 (0 x
195.200.23.70:80)
(Ignore the datestamps, looks like the time is a little screwed on that box ;))
As I've said previously, it does send packets to the real servers and get
responses back looking at a tcpdump.
Craig.
