Hello,
Hmm, I think I may need to upgrade heartbeat. It's probably the one thing I
haven't upgraded yet.
Ok. Good luck.
I can't seem start interfaces as a /32, they always come up as a /24. Just
to see if it would work, I tried bringing up an interface as a /31 and that
DID work, so there is something it doesn't like about /32.
Yes, there is a difference if you set up an interface with an ip address
and netmask /32 as opposed to setting it up with /31. The former one
doesn't set a broadcast and is of scope host and no routing entry except
in the main table, the latter one is of scope link and an entry in the
local routing table _and_ in the main table is given. But ... sigh ...
people simply don't get that and still continue to use broken tools like
ifconfig and route.
At least the SuSE distribution (the only one I know of) has changed
their braindead network setup to using ip. I can honestly not imagine
people building packet filters and routers with ifconfig and route,
putting the default gateway into the main table. But all of this is a
completely different story and has nothing to do with your problem :).
Anyone out there with the lastest IPaddr able to start interfaces as /32?
Maybe it's faster to write one yourself :)
Best regards,
