The colo doesn't provide any firewall.
is having the director and the firewall on
the same box not a valid configuration?
has anyone else used this type of configuration?
(LVS_NAT http, ftp with iptables... on the same system)

Hmm, and the colo people themselves don't offer stateful firewall services
either? I'm not too familiar with colo, we're hosting our machines
ourselves...
Otherwise you'll have to live with what you have. It's not the end of the
world, but it's not Walhalla either ;-)
