LVS doesn't have anything to do with failover. Pulse handles that...
Is Pulse a version of heartbeat ?

In heartbeat you can set a warntime and a deadtime..
You can play with the settings so that a deadtime never occurs if the two lvs boxes are too busy to read pulses for a number of seconds.

The longest breaks in heartbeat I get are about 7secs, but I've heard red-hat has a bug that can make this 30secs or more.
