Sorry , can you explain that a bit more ?
The LVS (is that what you mean by router) cannot connect to its own VIPs , but it can connect to the RIPs on the web servers in the cluster.

You can use mon,keepalived or ldirectord to monitor the real servers in your cluster.

If you want to monitor the VIPs then use a monitoring device outside your network or inside as well if you want..
