keepalived behaviour

Hello List,
when i start keepalived on a existing lvs config and stop keepalived
later then i notice that keepalived unloads or clears the current
lvs config, on keepalived startup the config will be added new.
Is this behaviour supposed to be ? or is there a way to leave the
lvs config when keepalived stops ?
