Newbie problems

Hi.

I have 5 machines, 3 will be proxy servers and 2 directors, all they with 
Mandrake 9.1. 
I downloaded the kernel source and I untared it under /usr/src. Now I see in 
the README file 

 cd /usr/src/linux
        cat <path-name>/linux_kernel_ksyms_c.diff | patch -p1
        cat <path-name>/linux_net_netsyms_c.diff | 
patch -p1
Then, rebuild a Linux kernel with Netfilter support.

But, when I get the inux_kernel_ksyms_c.diff and  inux_net_netsyms_c.diff  
???? I do not what to do here.
I also downloaded the linux-2.4.21-ipvs-1.0.10.patch.gz.
