I switched to kernel 2.4.25 (vanilla) (on a RedHat 9 -based system, if
that matters). I used to hide the lo:0 interface with ip link set lo arp
off. Now this doesn't work any more, and I don't see any
/proc/sys/net/ipv4/conf/*/hidden entry.
# ip link show lo
1: lo: <LOOPBACK,NOARP,UP> mtu 16436 qdisc noqueue
link/loopback 00:00:00:00:00:00 brd 00:00:00:00:00:00
but the interface is not actually hidden!
I resolved the issue with the noarp module, but I'm still curious about
what I missed in the kernel configuration...
