First of all I apoligize for my ignorance!!!
Operating system redhat 9 kernel 2.4.25 patched for lvs and two realservers
also patched with "Julians Hidden"
I am trying to set a lvs based on great Mini howto
I had succes using ips as per mini howto---all went well.
In real life the lvs has to be part of a class "A" network 8.0.0.0 mask
255.0.0.0 default gateway for entire network is 8.0.0.1
I gave director ip 8.168.0.1
I gave realserver1 ip 8.168.0.2
I gave realserver2 ip 8.168.0.3
As per mini
The load balancer (LinuxDirector), kernel 2.2.14

ifconfig eth0 <an IP address> ...
...
ifconfig eth0:0 <VIP> netmask 255.255.255.255 broadcast <VIP> up
eg:ifconfig eth0:0 192.168.0.110 netmask 255.255.255.255 broadcast
192.168.0.110 up to prevent
realserver/director interacting
In my case ifconfig eth0:0 8.168.0.110 netmask ????.????.????.????
broadcast 8.168.0.110 up---What should mask be???
Should netmask still remain 255.255.255.255??
Thanx very much
Mike Jones
