Test Setup is :

1 LVS
2 Web servers (Win 2003) (set up as one vip)
1 SQL server (will add another later as read only.) (setup as another vip)

All in DR mode and on the same subnet.
The web servers work fine but sometimes (often) they timeout when trying to reach the sql server via the VIP ? (no timeouts if they use the RIP).
SQL server is just a simple 1433 tcp protocol as I understand it ?

That sounds like it should work just fine. Have
you tried poking around with tcpdump to verify that
SQL server is indeed just using a simple connection on port 1433.

Horms,

Not yet but I will (I'm fairly sure it is because we only need 1433 open on the firewall.) , Funnily enough Enterprise Manager works fine through the VIP but the web servers loose connections.

I'll let the list know when I figure it out.
