Bugger, Bugger, Bugger...

Apparently if you use either a netbios name in an ASP db connectionstring, or if your web server has M$oft authentication turned on...

iis will use a challenge response hand shake to log on to the SQL servereven though you've specified a basic username and password.


Of course this won't work through a VIP...

Anyway its working fine now..
