you seem to have done all the right things.
The packet arrives at the realserver but you don't know what happens
to it then. Does the httpd go into SYN_REC state or anything like
that on the realserver (use netstat -an | grep $VIP | grep 80)?
At this stage it's usually something silly. Can you ping the default gw
from the realserver? Do you have iptables rules running anywhere? Do you
see any packets trying to get out, using tcpdump, from the realserver's
public IP NIC?
