Unable to monitor any service...

Hi Friends, 
 I new for lvs. I have installed heartbeat, ipvsadm, and ldirectord. 
I want to monitor http service for ha. I have configured directors and
real servers on the same machines. I am not able to switch from one
server to another if service gone crached. However if server gone
offline then only I am able to switch. Can any body help me what could
be the problem..
