On the contrary (IMHO). Once you get the hang of it (its notion
of objects etc can be a bit strange for long-time ifconfig/route
users), it works much better than the traditional tools.
Plus, it's only one binary, it has command abbreviation ("ip ro
sh") and for some modern features, its output is more complete.
I hardly use ifconfig/route/arp/... anymore.
