I am new to compiling kernel as well as lvs. Now i want ipvsadm to work on my
distro. When i read instructions from the website it says that ipvs for kernel
2.6.x already patched and need to download ipvsadm. now since ipvs need not be
patched into the kernel by hand do we skip the compiling, making part of the
kernel and just make the grub loader boot into new kernel and make install
ipvsadm?

or do i have to go through all the compiling steps making kernel b4 i can boot
into new kernel?
also i am using centos 4.1 but my kernel is 2.6.9-22 which i think is latest so
i am guessing that ipvs is already there and i just need to download ipvsadm
--then make install and it should work fine?

i tried getting a fresh kernel 2.6.9 and patching it with hidden patch. there
is another patch in the for kernel 2.6.9 in the same folder is that patch to
patch teh kernel or update the kernel?
anyhow, when i run 'make' i get drivers error for i don't know what.

can someone who has worked on the latest kernel give me step by step on how to
do this. i need lvs to work for my project but the information provided on the
websites is for 2.4.* kernel and there has been big changes after that kernel.
please, if anyone can show me the way on how to go about doing this.

thank you
