I think that significance of the -1 is a bug.
And I also believe that the current version of ldirectord 
(1.127 or 1.77.2.36) does not have this problem. Could
you please test that code out, instructions on how
to upgrade just ldirectord are at

Could you also let me know which version of the
code is having this problem by sending the very first
line of the ldirectord script.
