The developers of both lots of code monitor this mailing list. Horms, the heartbeat person, is a major responder here on LVS questions too. Alexandre, the keepalived person, has a separate mailing list.

Your question comes up occassionally and last time it was asked, we found that people used both and some people liked one and some people liked the other.

Since they both work, you need to look at the specs to see which one fits your bill best.
