we have a problem with dropped tcp connection requests. The setup looks like this, using a classical LAMP but with an ipvs direct routing based loadbalancer for the mysql replication cluster:

Are the web servers, the DB server and the LB in different collision domains? How is the complete connection flow from client over presentation layer to application to backend?
