There are several ways to solve the ARP problem (check this link for
further details: http://www.ssi.bg/~ja/)
You can use the hidden device flag. In order to use this you need to
patch your 2.4.x kernel (patch from the link above). I don't know if the
kernel modified by RedHat includes that patch.
