persistency is a bit of a kluge, but the only way we've found to handle certain setups. The problem is that people don't understand how it works (admittedly it's complicated), and it doesn't always do what they want (expect). It always does what it's supposed to.

If you're using ssh to get in (looks doable), then you won't need persistence.
