Interesting - I was checking an F8 system, so there's the explanation :)

In Fedora-land, the --exact option came in between 1.24-9 and 1.24-11 -
probably last October in -10.

It has been in the source code (which to my eternal shame I didn't
check) since December 2005 - just after it was discussed on the ML.

I am happy to stand corrected!
