32 or 64 bit Intel, PPC, ARM, MIPS... doesn't matter. It's *in the
kernel*.

To manage an LVS you need something else. Getting closer to the kernel
with each step:

ldirectord, keepalived, pulse (piranha)/nanny etc
ipvsadm
the LVS API

I'd suggest you start with the first line, and have a real good read.
