Forgot to mention that part, I already had a fwmark configured for it, but for
some reason IPVS couldn't "grab" the actual packets.

The term "VIPless" nudged my google searches in the right direction. I applied
the routing tricks to route traffic for the fwmark to lo, et voila: it works!
