Hi All,

I have a simple question as I'm a bit confused about Real Servers.

I have LVS-DR running fine and working just as advertised! It was a lot of work but it has definitely paid off.

My question is this, do each real servers website need a public ip address?

I have the following:

RealServer1 (Redhat 9) - 172.16.1.21 private network - 192.168.1.21 public network NAT to outside address (ie. 208.151.202.21)

RealServer2 (Redhat 9) - 172.16.1.22 private network - 192.168.1.22 public network NAT to outside address (ie. 208.151.202.22)

I plan to have multiple websites for load balancing on both of the RealServers (I've already created these and they work well too). I have the VIP 192.168.1.20 (VIP also NATted to 208.151.202.20) balancing to both 192.168.1.21 and .22.

The question is do the RealServers really need the NAT external ip address (208.151.202.x)?

Couldn't I just remove the NAT assigned each RealServer ip address as long as the 192.168.1.x network is able to go out onto the internet?

If I add the second Load Balanced/VIP website, do I have to assign another different external ip address (ie. 208.151.202.30, .31, and .32?)

Thanks in advance for answering.

Thanks,
