I am just starting with this topic so my answer might no be appropriate....

under /etc/ha.d/resource.d there is a script called LVSSyncDaemon. It
checks wether the master is locally running by typing:

        /etc/ha.d/resource.d/LVSSyncDaemonSwap master status

If the localhost is the master something like
            master running
            (ipvs_syncmaster pid: 2631)
will appear. If you execute the LVSSyncDaemon in the slave, teh next
output will appear:
            master stopped
