I know its *called* a 'mini' HOWTO but it really is extremely large and
verbose, not really step-by-step like a traditional howto.

Perhaps it might pay to have a single page with just this most common
example and its associated config files?

A lot of the 'mini' HOWTO is not relevent to a lot of people; how to
patch and compile the kernel for example for kernels going back to 2.2,
ipchains as well as iptables. Meanwhile the detail on the contents of
the config files themselves seem to be pretty sparse.
