I haven't gotten that far to even understand what the arp.ignore
function is, however, i'll jot that down.

Can I use encapsulation if the realservers are on different physical
networks, or is my only option NAT? Some of the documentation I'm
reading contridicts itself.

No patching needed. IPVS is in the kernel, and you can use arp.ignore on

the realservers.
