Hi Cliff,

If it said it was delaying initialization, it usually means that the driver
didn't load.  No driver, no way to bring up the interface.  Which, of course,
means that eth0 won't appear.  You should look at the messages produced by
the driver when it tries to load and see what it's complaining about.  On a
standard RedHat distribution this is normally in the file /var/log/messages.
