I know this is cold comfort, but it works here (with a 2.4.3 kernel
director). traceroute
from the real-servers shows that the pings are going through the
director. I expect ping works on the 2.2.x directors too, as
one of the tests that the configure script uses when setting
up the LVS is to ping between nodes and count hops.
The ipvs code doesn't affect ping packets, so I would expect
the problem is a function of your networking.
Can you make the director just a nat box and see if you
can ping to the client, howabout if the director is just
forwarding? Is the client allow to ping addresses on the
real-server network?
