Just one addition: GFS is also worth trying (http://www.globalfilesystem.org/)
Hi all, we made some good experiences with the use of GFS.
One more querry , what is the maximum throughput (in Mbps) we can get from the GFS file system , and what is the maximum no of clients which can be connected to the GFS server. Is it necessary to have fiberoptic/SCSI for that , since i just want to test it , can you give me a link from where i can check out , how to build it . Or can i get the binaries from the not . Thanks Dinesh
The GFS is a symetric shared file system. That means, in theory there is
no bottleneck und therefore no limitation in scalability. Sistina tested
GFS in version 3 with a 16 node Cluster (see http://www.sistina.com/cgi-bin/gfs-faqprocessor.cgi
for more information)
GFS works best with a SCSI or Fibre Channel environment. But you can also
use it with a network block device (If you don't have the appropriate SCSI/FC
hardware)
But have a look at the GFS Homepage for more information (As Juri mentioned before)
Have a nice day, Mark
