No, the problem is, as Julian pointed out, that on 2.2+ eth0 also replies to
arp requests, which are directed to the eth1 ip.
You need to use the hidden-device-patch from Julian to solve that problem,
no matter what your VIP-device is ("real" nic, or eth-alias).
