It's a reasonable assessment of the situation. I wrote a lot of it
and I can't find references to half of it myself.
It's what you get with people writing documentation in their spare time. 
If we were getting paid for this, it would be as clear as microsoft's
documentation.

should be nothing to it. None of us have an AIX box to test. If you
can setup an non-arp'ing device in AIX, you're in.

You could use it or you can do without. It would need another case statement
for AIX that's all.

you have to setup the realservers too. I would assume that the director is 
sending
on packets to the realservers with this setup, but the realservers aren't setup
properly
