No offense to anyones here-to-date LVS how-to's but
when I investigated LVS and Piranha/LVS myself for the
first time, there was certainly no lack of how-to's
and info on the subject, but THERE WAS SIMPLY NO
COMMON SENSE DIRECT STEP-BY-STEP HOW-TO for basic
setup start to finish. That is why I wrote PB'S
PIRANHA/LVS NUTSHELL-HOWTO FOR NAT and I know that
helped several people who wrote me back with many
thanks. It took me a couple weeks to make my
Piranha/LVS work and a ton of hours by I did it, and
wrote the how-to to simpify it for others.
LVS is not easy when you first come upon it, and
Piranha/LVS from Redhat does simplify it a little, but
still, lots of ipchains examples, but IPTABLES is
where it's at, and when you have little clue, looking
at discrete examples doesn't help - you need to tie it
to something first before you understand it. That's
where simple step 1, 2, 3 starts some people up, and
then later they have some handle to understand the
more complex stuff.
I think more netshell how-to's would help.
It would also help if Redhat put the lvs patches in
their KERNEL-ENTERPRISE....
