that's the usual cause.
I would assume then that it's something simple:
You're testing with some simple service like telnet,
have no filter rules, can ping/telnet between all pairs of machines?
If that's OK, then you should monitor the state of the connections
on each of the machines, with tcpdump or netstat -an,
as you try to connect from your client to see where
the packets get stuck. Hopefully that will tell you
where the problem is.
