i used the wrong words, i'm looking for some kind of ssl accleration via or with lvs ..

As far as I am aware Thwate do not require you to buy a seperate cert for each real server (just for each domain). And the performance hit of SSL on IIS and Apache is far less than Layer 7 vendors would have you believe...
(Unless you are talking high connections per second.)

F5 et al. sell Layer 7 as the answer to everything but I'm not convinced.
