I'm sure this has been discussed before, but I searched the list
archives for timeout and nothing jumped out at me, so please point me to
a link if this is archived somewhere. :)

When I ssh to machines through my LVS-NAT setup, the connection gets
dropped after inactivity periods. I don't get this if when not going
through LVS-NAT. I have the same problem with other applications.
OpenSSH is supposed to have server initiated keepalive packets to
prevent this, but it doesn't work. And not all applications have some
form of keepalive mechanism. I checked the HOWTO and found the link
below, and have read the documentation of the
/proc/sys/net/ipv4/vs/timeout_* variables. The bit in the HOWTO leaves
me thinking I have to recompile my kernel (not ideal), the sysctl
variables don't seem to be what I'm looking for, maybe I'm wrong.

So I guess ultimately what I want is for LVS_NAT to not drop connections due to inactivity for programs that would not have done so in the absence of LVS-NAT.
