I don't wanna build a RadBack box, but I can tell you that my box
turnned off a Nortel Shasta 5000 that wasn't doing the job. This PPPoE
concentrator is up for almost 6 months and is performing really
well... it is great to see what a Linux box, configured and tunned the
right way, can do... :-)) But now I need more reliability then just
a standby server. And soon I'll bump in Linux systems limitations like
maximun open files, sockets, etc... Building a "farm" is the way to go
now.
As Mathew wrote in his last message, I need to know if LVS-DR can be
setup to load balance traffic based in a L2 fwmark. It cannot look,
touch or rely on the IP header, just on L2 information. If it works
everything else is supposed to work, because IP packets are wrapped
in PPPoE packets and unwrapped by the PPPoE server.
Mathew, can you please tell me more on your idea of marking packets
on layer 2 using iptables? Which kind of rule would you set for this?
I never used fwmarks.
tks everybody.
