not with LVS starting with a kernel from ftp.kernel.org. If you have a 
prepatched
kernel from someone else then go talk to them about what to do with it. It 
presumably
will have the core kernel patch. It may or may not have the rest of the ip_vs 
code
build into the kernel. It may be expecting you to build that as modules. If so
you'll have to build modules that match the version of the ip_vs core kernel 
patch.

The thing to watch is that Wensong supplies patches in two versions (or used 
to),
one where all the code is put into the kernel tree and another where the nearly 
all
the code is built outside the kernel tree.
