While we're talking about performance figures, I'll throw this out... I
use a Linux that's largely rebuilt Redhat AS 2.1 source rpms, so I
tested the RH enterprise kernels before going production.  The 2.4.18
line performs great, the 2.4.9 series, not so much.

With fast enough systems, LVS-NAT can handle quite a bit of traffic. 
Our LVS director is a dual P4 for 6 real servers.  It does 85 Mbps
sustained with peaks of around 135 Mbps and so far has shown no signs of
slowing down. :-)
